Self-Service & Automated Variance Reporting

How long would it take you to create budget & forecast variance reports every month for every:

🏢 BU, Region, Legal Entity
💼 Department, Cost Center, Function
🙋‍♀️ Customer, Industry, Size
⚙️ Product, Product Line, Channel
🤝 Vendor, Vendor Group, Vendor Industry
☑️ Project, Portfolio, Strategy
👷 Employee, Level, Location
(or whatever slice and/or dice is relevant to you)

..and then distribute those securely to those in your company who need it?

In this video, we’ll show you how FP&AI enables self-service, automated variance reporting across 24 business dimensions.

Timestamp Captions 00:01 – 00:04 Hi there, I’m Zaf Kamar and I’m back with another episode 00:04 – 00:08 of our series How to FP&AI. In today’s video, we’ll examine 00:08 – 00:11 the many dimensions and slices and dices supported 00:11 – 00:14 out-of-the-box in FP&AI leveraged in our automated 00:14 – 00:17 reporting and insights. Operative word there is automated. 00:17 – 00:20 If you had to recreate all of these reports for every 00:20 – 00:23 budget forecast, month end, and year end, your FP&A 00:23 – 00:26 team would be spending hundreds of additional hours to get 00:26 – 00:30 it done. Stop spending your time creating reports and start 00:30 – 00:32 spending your time analyzing them. 00:32 – 00:34 Let’s get started. 00:34 – 00:37 Out-of-the-box, FP&AI naturally supports 8 business 00:37 – 00:40 dimensions including Legal Entity or business Unit, 00:40 – 00:43 Department or Cost Center. Your chart of accounts, 00:43 – 00:46 Customers, Products, Vendors, Projects and Employees. Each 00:46 – 00:50 of those business dimensions in FP&AI supports 3 hierarchies, 00:50 – 00:53 giving you 24 ways that you can slice and dice your data 00:53 – 00:57 with ease. I’ll click into Customers and we’ll see how easy 00:57 – 01:01 it is to manage the dimensionality in FP&AI. 01:01 – 01:04 Administrators simply upload parent child CSV files into 01:04 – 01:08 the app by clicking on this button over here. 01:08 – 01:11 This can be used to add new customers with ease, maybe as 01:11 – 01:14 an export from your CRM system. 01:17 – 01:19 In addition, you’ll notice the attribute tags associated 01:19 – 01:22 with each of the customers that will aid and slicing and 01:22 – 01:24 dicing later on in the model. 01:24 – 01:27 Two primary ways that these business dimensions are 01:27 – 01:30 leveraged in FP&AI for filtering and for reporting in 01:30 – 01:33 the app. There are several places where you can leverage 01:33 – 01:35 our dynamic view functionality to filter results only to 01:35 – 01:38 those that pertain to what you’re searching for. 01:38 – 01:42 For example, now I’m looking at actual transactions. Let’s 01:42 – 01:45 say I wanted to filter this for only a certain specific 01:45 – 01:46 customer. 01:46 – 01:49 I can do that with these. 01:49 – 01:52 Report taking a look at my budget input screen, if I Scroll 01:52 – 01:55 down to the detailed inputs and I want it to filter for 01:55 – 01:59 example only on customers that are in the telecom industry. 02:00 – 02:03 I can do that with ease as well. 02:03 – 02:06 The second place where these business dimensions are used 02:06 – 02:08 is in reporting. Coming over here to my customer revenue 02:08 – 02:11 analysis dashboard. Not only can I view consolidated 02:11 – 02:14 reporting on a customer by customer basis and being able to 02:14 – 02:17 filter differently by different industries. 02:18 – 02:21 But I can also leverage those alternative reporting 02:21 – 02:24 hierarchies that we took a look at before to be able to 02:24 – 02:27 understand the different segmentation around. An example 02:27 – 02:32 here would be by industry or by market capitalization. 02:32 – 02:35 The big deal here is that all of this is automated and self 02:35 – 02:38 serviced. If you had to recreate all of these reports on 02:38 – 02:40 every budget, every forecast, and at every month end and 02:40 – 02:43 every quarter end, it would take hundreds of hours with a 02:43 – 02:46 high risk of error on top of the time needed to distribute 02:46 – 02:50 those reports to the right stakeholders. With FP&AI you 02:50 – 02:53 get dozens of variance analysis reports across a multitude 02:53 – 02:55 of slices and dices out-of-the-box for every plan, every 02:55 – 02:58 forecast, and every month end if you want to spend less 02:58 – 03:01 time wrangling data and creating reports and spend more 03:01 – 03:02 time analyzing them. 03:02 – 03:06 Give us a call. I’ll see you in the next video.
